While we are eternally optimistic about the future, we feel it is important, to be honest about the problems faced by our industry and by us as a small business. We are not perfect, but we will continue to strive towards more ethical & sustainable practices. We believe transparency is the first step in this process and we want to share our progress & struggles with you along the way.
We know that making clothes will always have an impact on our environment, but we are committed to making improvements throughout all levels of the business, so that our impact may positively add to, rather than take from, the earth. We view it as our responsibility to work with partners who value good environmental practices, understand and embrace our values, respect the environment, planet & people.
At Helen McAlinden, we want you to buy well and buy less.
We design quality clothing made to last a lifetime, a Helen McAlinden piece will enhance your wardrobe season after season. We are about style, not fast fashion. We know that the most sustainable clothing is already in your wardrobe. Instead of adding ten trend driven pieces each season add one special item that will revamp your whole look and give your existing favourites a new lease of life.
We strive to make everything from natural, low impact materials & rescued deadstock. Where possible we source local woven fabrics from Ireland and we plan to gradually eliminate all synthetic fabrics from our range by 2025. We make small quantities of each product & Upcycle faulty or undesirable pieces when possible. This is keeping our production less wasteful. We value every item we make so all of our 'Old' stock is available to purchase online at Helen McAlinden under our outlet section at 50% off!
We will to keep you updated on our plans, struggles and goals. We would love to hear your thoughts & ideas ! What's changes are you making to become more environmentally friendly?
